What is Valheim?
Valheim is a co-op survival adventure set in a huge procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology. Cast as a fallen Viking, you land in a wild tenth realm and start from nothing: felling trees, mining ore, cooking food and raising shelter against an unforgiving Nordic wilderness.
Structural Building
Free-form construction with a real load system: wood snaps, stone supports and ground contact decide whether your longhall stands through the night.
Food Is Your Arsenal
HP and stamina come from what you eat. Stack recipes, brew mead and learn the combos that turn a squishy Viking into a raid-tanking monster.
The Metal Teleport Rule
Ore and ingots cannot pass through portals. Plan your boats, carts and smelting outposts before you drag that iron across the map.
8 Biomes, 8 Bosses
Survive eight procedurally generated biomes and prove yourself against every Forsaken, from the stag-god Eikthyr to the frost giant Kall Fimbulbringer.
Your progress is gated by the Forsaken, eight legendary bosses scattered across progressively deadlier biomes. Discovering new regions unlocks fresh recipes, weapons and threats, from calm Meadows and dripping Swamps to the volcanic Ashlands and the frozen Deep North that arrived with the 1.0 release on September 9, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is food so important in Valheim?+
Food fills your HP and stamina pools — without it your health bar shrinks to almost nothing. Cook meat, berries and vegetables at a Campfire or Cauldron and combine a health, stamina and balanced dish to triple your effective health before any serious fight.
Can you teleport ore in Valheim?+
No. Metal ores and ingots cannot pass through portals, only smelted bars and crafted items can. The classic workaround is to build a smelter near the mine, sail the bars home, or use a cart and a boat to ferry heavy loads back to your main base.
What is the correct boss order in Valheim?+
Follow the Forsaken order: Eikthyr in the Meadows, The Elder in the Black Forest, Bonemass in the Swamp, Moder on the Mountain, Yagluth in the Plains, The Queen in the Mistlands, Fader in the Ashlands and finally Kall Fimbulbringer in the Deep North. Each trophy unlocks a Forsaken power and the next biome's gear tier.
How does taming work in Valheim?+
Drop the animal's favorite food near it and stay out of sight while the taming bar fills. Boars eat mushrooms and berries, wolves eat raw meat, lox eat cloudberries or barley and askvin eat eggs or meat. Once tamed you can breed them and, for lox and askvin, ride them.
How do I keep my building from collapsing?+
Read the support color: blue means grounded, green means strongly supported, yellow is weak and red will collapse. Use core wood poles and stone pillars to reach height, and never build a roof span longer than the material can support without a post.
What are world modifiers in Valheim?+
World modifiers are difficulty settings you can set per world: passive enemies, no raids, combat difficulty, and even Hardcore where your tombstone and items are lost on death. You can change them anytime from the main menu on the world select screen, and they apply to everyone on the server.
Can I play Valheim with friends?+
Yes. Valheim supports up to ten players, and you can host a world for your friends, join someone else's server, or run a dedicated server. Progress, building and boss trophies are shared, and 1.0 added full crossplay across PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch 2.
Ready to Prove Yourself to Odin?
Grab your axe, build your longhall, tame the wild and carve a path through all eight biomes to the Deep North. Your saga is waiting in the tenth realm.
